An Update

Well, so much for the January H2O! I guess we just weren't supposed to meet on that day, or the next week either. God works in mysterious ways, so I am just going to believe that He knew what He was doing when let the ice come down. As most of you have probably figured out, we have quit trying to "make up" the missed H2O. I don't know if we will have one in February or not. When I look out the back windows of our house and see the amount of clean up we have to do, I wonder if we will be done before Andrew graduates from collage. :) If there are any of you out there who don't have enough wood of your own to cut, or if you enjoy it too much to quit, we would give you an open invitation to come out and have at ours! For those of you who didn't get hit, here are a few pictures of what our area looks like. If you are one of the poor unfortunates who did get to experience the storm, and its aftereffects, please leave a comment about it. We will just have one big pity party for awhile, and then get back to cleaning up.
God bless,
Niyad

Just as you pull out of our driveway

Looking out over the back yard.

Behind the office building.

Going through the gate towards the H2O fireplace, looking across the creek.

I had a picture of the fire area, but it won't upload to the blog. Maybe I can get it on later.

How about everybody says how long they lost power for... if you did. I know some people didn't... but I won't name names. We lost ours for 12.6 days. I think that's a new record... it beats the last record of 16 hours during the last ice storm. I was thinking that we should have a Man to Man some Saturday out at the Stoyeff's. Sugar n' Spice could work inside the house making desserts for the guys..:) I have a feeling that that idea may get shot down mighty quickly. Oh, well. Hope everyone's clean up process goes well, and if you are using a chainsaw or other sharp implements of debris torture.. be safe. And stay warm.. 25 degrees is just too cold to be out...unless your are just plain silly like me... in which case you'd sleep outside. (I'm not that silly, btw:))

Howdy howdy,
Well, glad to hear everyone is still alive and kicking.
Yes, the Harmon home was hit in the ice storm. We lost quite a few trees and were out of power for nine days.
Personally I didn't really mind not having power, except when I'd walk into a room and try to flip the light switch and nothing would happen, but it kind of makes you think about all the people in other countries who don't have power or running water on a daily basis. I mean at least we all still had well built houses to stay in. Some people don't even have that! Kind of makes you think twice about complaining. Not to say that I want to go through it again any time soon. I have whole heartedly decided I like having my creature comforts. Top on the list, hot water. Grin. Running, hot water:) though if you don't have nearly two feet of hair you probably won't understand why.
Well, happy clean up to everyone..:) I say that dryly. And don't wear yourselfs out in the cold weather.
BRRRR!!! I'll admit that when it comes to cold weather, I'm a wimp. I think I'll go curl up with a cup of hot cocoa and a good book. To me that's about all this weathers really good for.

And I hope we do have an Feb h2o. Even if it means everyone just gets togeather and helps with some yard clean up or something. After all, many hands make for lighter work, and the more the merrier.

You could just leave all the mess like it is. Just think of all the little critter habitats you could encourage...birds, rabbits...and beetles! :) Just let nature takes it's course. I could bring you some lovely kudzu and you'd never know those broken limbs were there. Come on. No? Well, I'm just glad I'm not there to do all of that work. Instead, I have all kinds of time to waste visiting blogs and leaving stupid comments. Nice friend, huh?

Huh! She thinks SHE'S glad she's not there to help with the work... She isn't the one who has actually experienced Stoyeff slave labor!! haha
